Privacy Policy

Information we process

• Account data: email address, an internal account identifier, and authentication records. Supabase processes your password and stores a cryptographic verifier; Eloquent cannot read your plaintext password.
• Learning data: selected skill level, vocabulary progress, review timing, streaks, and session statistics.
• Preferences: daily goal, audio preference, and theme.
• Operational data: our hosting providers may process IP address, device/browser information, timestamps, and error or security logs needed to operate and protect the service.
• Crash diagnostics: Sentry receives error messages, stack traces, app versions, device and operating-system details, and limited technical events preceding an error. Reports are used to identify and fix bugs. We do not intentionally include account identifiers, email addresses, passwords, authentication tokens, request bodies, screen recordings, or screenshots in these reports.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, provide and synchronize learning features, generate requested pronunciation audio, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

Service providers

• Supabase provides authentication, database, and server-function infrastructure.
• OpenAI receives only the word or short text you ask the app to pronounce, plus normal technical request data. We do not send your email or Eloquent account identifier with that request. Pronunciation audio is generated by OpenAI and is not a human voice.
• Vercel hosts the public web app and legal pages.
• Sentry processes crash and error diagnostics for the mobile app, web app, and server functions. Session recording and advertising features are disabled.

Device storage and security

The app caches session information, learning data, an offline action queue, and preferences in platform-provided local storage so the app can work reliably. This storage is not presented as encrypted storage. Network traffic uses HTTPS, and server data is protected by access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Data we do not collect

Eloquent does not request precise location, contacts, microphone access, photos, financial information, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising SDK and does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention and deletion

Account and learning data is retained while your account is active. You can permanently delete the account in Settings. The active account and associated learning records are then removed; limited copies may remain temporarily in provider backups or security logs until those systems complete their normal retention cycle. Signing out also clears user-specific learning caches from the device.

Crash diagnostics follow Sentry's configured retention period and are not intentionally linked to your Eloquent account. Contact us if a diagnostic report contains personal information that you want removed.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, object to, or delete personal data. Use the in-app deletion control or contact us from the email address associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

Eloquent is intended for people aged 13 and older. If local law requires parental consent above that age, a parent or guardian must provide it. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information contrary to this policy.

International processing

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.
